Chairman Shimoji hosted welcome dinner for Mr. Paul Manafort.
 

Mr. Manafort visited to Tokyo together with Mr. Tong Sun Park, Chairman of Parkington International Co., Ltd., at the end of last year.
Mr. Manafort, an attorney and a founding partner of DMP International, LLC, has been active in business government and international affairs for over three decades. He holds a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center.  Mr. Tong Sun Park was ahead of Mr. Manafort at the same university.

Mr. Manafort has provided political counsel to Republican candidates and managed numerous state and national Republican campaigns including those of President-Elect Trump and President’s Ford, Reagan, and Bush.

Concerning to the questions about the new President, Mr. Manafort praised personality and the ability of President Trump.  He told that President Trump showed a splendid leadership in the presidential election last year.

Congressman Mikio Shimoji who participated the welcome dinner, offered Mr. Manafort to meet with the Japanese influential member of the ruling party, and the meeting was realized the next day.

 
 
Hon. Niroshan Perera, State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs of Sri Lanka visited to Japan
 

In December 21, 2017, Hon. Minister Perera had meetings with Congressman Kiuchi and Congressman M. Shimoji at each of the Diet Members’ Office through the introduction of Chairman Shimoji.  Minister Perera also met with Mr. Nobuo Kishi, Senior Vice]Minister of Foreign Affairs same afternoon. 

In the meetings, Minister Perera and each of Diet members agreed that Japan and a Sri Lanka will keep the traditional friendship and will plan more expansion of trade and the investment between the two countries.

Minister Perera attended the welcome dinner same evening hosted by Chairman Shimoji.

H.E. Ambassador Namgyel visited Japan to attend at a tea party of the Emperor's Birthday held at the Imperial Palace on December 21, 2016.
 

Next morning, Ambassador Namgyel met with Ms. Miwako Oda, Representative of “tsutaeru” and Ms. Tokuda, Honorary Consul-General of Bhutan in Tokyo.  Ms. Oda entrusted Ambassador Namgyel with the baby shoes which were specially made with Nishijin brocade for HRH Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck.

Ms. Oda founded the company “tsutaeru” to spread Japanese superior traditional technique and textile.

 
 
Vice Minister Yeshi Wangdi and 3 officials of Economy and Trade of Bhutan visited Japan in January.
 

They were invited by invitation program of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.  Ms. Hitomi Tokuda, Honorary Consul-General of Bhutan in Japan, held a welcome dinner and exchange opinions about the economic conditions and development of Bhutan.

 
 
About the issue of scholarship
 

There are many students suffering from the return of the scholarship. The scholarship system of the payment type will be desirable in future.
